Frequently Asked Questions

Custom 3D printed and hand-painted keepsakes. The shop is best known for Navy Chief and military figures with accurate ranks, uniforms, and insignia, plus chibi-style portraits from your photos (couples, families, pets, characters). We also make slate coasters, fantasy pieces, sports figures, articulating sculptures, and one-off designs from your idea.

Email Scottys3dcrafts@gmail.com or use the contact form on this site. Include:

  • Clear photos (face + full body if you want a specific outfit)
  • Who it’s for and the occasion
  • Style you want (chibi, block-style Navy figure, bobblehead, etc.)
  • Pose, uniform/outfit, accessories, or rank details
  • Size if you have a preference (most custom figures are around 4”)

You’ll get a reply with options, a quote, and next steps.

Well-lit, in-focus photos. Front-facing shots are best for faces. For uniforms, send a photo that shows ribbons, pins, combination cover, and rank clearly. Extra angles (side, full body, reference of the outfit) help a lot. If you’re unsure, send a few and we’ll pick the strongest ones.

Yes. Couple chibis, family groups, wedding looks, and “mini-me” portraits are a regular request. We can match outfits, poses (holding hands, hugging), and little personal details.

Yes—that’s a core specialty. Chief Petty Officer uniforms, fouled anchors, ESWS pins, ribbon racks, combination covers, and other service details are sculpted and painted with care. Army and other branch pieces can be done when you provide clear references.

Yes. Pieces are 3D printed (resin for fine detail on smaller figures) and then finished by hand so ranks, faces, and colors look right. They’re made as display keepsakes, not cheap toys.

Most custom chibi and portrait figures are about 4 inches tall. Size can be adjusted for a display, cake topper (with a barrier under the base), desk piece, or collection. Ask if you need a specific height.

For custom work, we’ll confirm the look with you before production so rank, outfit, pose, and likeness are locked in. Small tweaks are part of the process.

It depends on complexity and current queue. Simple pieces move faster; detailed Navy portraits and multi-person chibis take longer because of sculpting, printing, and hand-painting. We’ll give you a realistic window when you order. Holiday and retirement-ceremony dates should be requested early.

Yes. We’re based in Wildomar, California, and ship finished pieces. Local pickup in the Inland Empire / North San Diego County area can be arranged when it makes sense. Packaging is built so painted details survive the trip.

Yes. Pets, favorite characters (when you own the rights or it’s a personal gift), fantasy chess sets, slate coasters, sports figures, and fully original ideas are all in range. Send the concept and references.

No-Under U.S. copyright law, the rights holder owns the exclusive right to reproduce the character and to make derivative works (a 3D figure of a 2D character is a classic derivative). Selling that figure is commercial use. ask first.

They’re collectible art pieces. Resin figures are durable display items, not chew toys. For cake toppers, use a small barrier (parchment, fondant disc, or mini board) under the base so the figure doesn’t sit in frosting.

Keep it out of direct sun and extreme heat. Dust with a soft brush. Don’t soak it or scrub painted details. They’re built to last on a shelf or desk for years.

Both. The shop runs custom commissions and also develops product lines (Navy novelties, chibi series, coasters, and seasonal pieces). Check Instagram @scottys3dcrafts for what’s available now and for preorder drops.

Payment details are sent with your quote. Work typically starts after deposit or full payment, depending on the project.

Say the date up front. Ceremony and retirement pieces are a specialty, but they need lead time for accuracy and painting.

Instagram @scottys3dcrafts and the gallery on this site. That’s the best place for recent chibis, Navy figures, and custom finishes.
